There are two ways to pay for a website at Paxal. The cheaper one depends on how long you keep the site.
The two ways to pay
If you pay monthly, there is nothing to pay upfront. One monthly amount covers the build, the hosting and your .co.za address.
If you pay once-off, you pay for the build upfront. After that you pay for hosting every month and for your .co.za address every year.
Once-off costs more at the start and less later on. On a 3-page website, once-off becomes the cheaper option in month 10.
A 3-page website over 3 years
Paying monthly:
- R599 a month for 36 months: R21 564
Paying once-off:
- Build: R3 500
- Host plan, R200 a month for 36 months: R7 200
- .co.za address, about R200 a year for 3 years: R600
- Total: R11 300
Over the 3 years once-off costs R10 264 less, but you need R3 500 on the first day.
A 5-page website over 3 years
Paying monthly:
- R999 a month for 36 months: R35 964
Paying once-off:
- Build: R5 950
- Care plan, R549 a month for 36 months: R19 764
- .co.za address for 3 years: R600
- Total: R26 314
We used the Care plan here because it has the same visitor report and uptime alerts as the monthly Business plan. Care also includes an hour of changes each month, and Business doesn't.
A 7-page website over 3 years
Paying monthly:
- R1 499 a month for 36 months: R53 964
Paying once-off:
- Build: R8 950
- Care plan, R549 a month for 36 months: R19 764
- .co.za address for 3 years: R600
- Total: R29 314
The monthly Premium plan also adds a new town page every quarter, and Care doesn't.
Which one to choose
Pay monthly if you don't have the money for the build right now, or you would rather keep it in the business.
Pay once-off if you have the money and plan to keep the site for more than a year.
What else is different
On a monthly plan the design stays ours unless you buy it for the build price. Your address, words, photos and enquiries are yours either way. On a once-off build the design is yours as well.
Monthly plans run for at least 12 months. If you cancel before then, the months left are still payable, although the Consumer Protection Act may let you cancel early. Our terms explain how that works. After 12 months you can leave with 30 days' notice.
